The variance was approved at Planning Commission on January 10, 2024.

The property at 4603 Merilane is a single-family residential home. The owners would like to add additional attached garage space with finished square footage above on the west side of the home. The addition would be set back from the front of the home, and in conformance with the standard side yard setback. However, because of the current location of the home immediately to the east, the front yard setback average is 116.4 feet. The required 116’+ front yard setback renders the lot unbuildable. A variance is being requested to allow for consistent setbacks for this specific lot that would keep it with a consistent front yard setback to other homes located along the block and more in character with homes to the west along the street.

Public Input- 4603 Merilane

The City of Edina offers several ways for people to provide input on development projects. Regardless of the method, all public input is considered, so people need to use only one method.
