Census 2020 Complete Count Committee

The U.S. Constitution requires that each decade a count-or census-is taken of America's population. The body who is charge of this feat is the U.S. Census Bureau. The census provides vital information for you and the community.

  • It determines how many representatives each state gets in Congress and is used to redraw district boundaries.
  • Communities rely on census statistics to plan for a variety of resident needs including new roads, schools and emergency services.
  • Businesses use census data to determine where to open places to shop.

Each year, the federal government distributes hundreds of billions of dollars to states and communities based on the data. This year will be the first year individuals will be able to respond online, by phone, as well as by mail.

The City of Edina has established a volunteer committee to help support and do outreach on the 2020 Census!

Counting everyone once, only once, and in the right place!

Mission: Foster Community preparedness; inspire and support actions by individuals and community groups, with special focus on Hard to Count communities, to work toward a fair and accurate census in 2020.

Goals/Objectives:

  • CCC members will strive for 100% count participation
  • Develop intentional relationships with the hard to count (HTC) communities.
  • Develop awareness and trust of the methodology, importance, and benefits of the 2020 census.
