Who is eligible for free internet?
All Edina residents at least 18 years of age that live in affordable housing units are eligible. Other applicants may also be eligible - click here for more info.
Am I eligible if I currently have Comcast internet service?
Yes! You are eligible if you are an existing Comcast internet customer and meet City eligibility requirements. Fill out the enrollment form to get started!
What types of internet speeds are provided?
Fast, reliable speeds of 50 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload
- Good for working and learning from home.
- Streaming movies, shows, and downloading music.
- Video calling on multiple devices at the same time.
What if I don't have a home computer or smart device?
Comcast offers brand new, low-cost laptop computers and chromebooks to Internet Essential Program participants. Please go to https://www.internetessentials.com/low-cost-computer for more information.
Are there additional set up or installation costs? What about equipment rental costs?
No!! There are no set up or rental costs for you. You can also cancel this free service at any time.
Is there a waiting period after I set up the free internet service?
No, there is no waiting period for eligible residents that set up internet service through the Comcast Internet Essential Program. Once you sign up here, City Staff will be in touch with a unique enrollment code you can use to activate service with Comcast. Typically your new internet service can be activated in your home within a week.
Am I eligible if I already am signed up for the Internet Essentials Program?
Yes! If you are currently enrolled in the Internet Essentials Program and also meet the City's eligibility requirements. Please complete the enrollment form so we can get in touch!
