Phase 1 (West 55th Street, Beard Avenue (south half), Beard Court, Drew Avenue (south half) and Ewing Circle

  • A majority of irrigation system repairs are complete. The contractor will repair the remaining few this fall.
  • Seeding and hydromulching is complete. See the post titled "Tips for Growing Green Grass" or watch the video titled "Growing Green Grass" for reference information on your new seeded lawn.

Phase 2 (West 54th Street, Abbott Place, Beard Avenue (north half), Drew Avenue (north half) and Fuller Street.

  • Roadway excavation will continue on Friday 10/8 and Saturday 10/9, and is anticipated to finish by 10/11. The contractor will remove at least 1 foot of soil below the current road surface for the full width of the street to install the gravel base and confirm the soils are stable enough to support vehicular traffic. During this work, you can expect periodic loss of access to your driveways for up to an hour. If you need immediate access, please wave to one of the contractors to get their attention and they can accommodate.
  • Lane and / or road closures are anticipated on W. 54th St during the week of 10/11. The closures will generally be one block at a time.
  • Concrete curb and driveway apron installation is scheduled to begin during the week of 10/11. Expect limited roadway access during this period and no driveway access for at least 5 days as the concrete gains sufficient strength. Please check your front door/mailbox frequently for time sensitive notifications from the contractor.
