Construction Update 10/29/2021

Phase 1 and 2

  • The Beard Avenue sidewalk installation is complete.
  • All the landscaping plantings will occur in the spring of 2022.
  • The final layer of asphalt paving is scheduled to occur during the week of 11/8, with the exception of West 54th Street which is scheduled for paving on Saturday, 11/6.
  • Parking restrictions remain in effect. There is No Parking on the streets between 7 AM and 9 PM or until the contractor has noticeably left for the day.
  • Please remember the anticipated schedule is weather-dependent and are subject to change


Phase 1 (West 55th Street, Beard Avenue (south half), Beard Court, Drew Avenue (south half) and Ewing Circle

  • A majority of the irrigation system repairs are complete. The contractor will repair the remaining few this fall.
  • See the post titled "Tips for Growing Green Grass" or watch the video titled "Growing Green Grass" for reference information on your new seeded lawn.


Phase 2 (West 54th Street, Abbott Place, Beard Avenue (north half), Drew Avenue (north half) and Fuller Street.

  • The first layer of asphalt paving is complete.
  • Boulevard excavation and topsoil installation will continue during the week of 11/1.
  • Asphalt driveway and pavement restoration is ongoing and is scheduled to be completed during the week of 11/1.
  • The City of Minneapolis anticipates milling the top 2 inches of asphalt pavement on the north side of W 54th Street on 11/5 and paving the final 2 inch layer of asphalt on both sides of West 54th Street on Saturday, 11/6. During this work West 54th Street will be closed between France Avenue and Zenith Avenue from 7 AM to 6 PM. France Avenue can be accessed via West 53rd Street or Fuller Street.


US Internet

  • US Internet fiber optic installation in the City right of way is scheduled to be complete by 11/5.
  • US Internet will restore turf impacted by their fiber optic installation.
