FAQs
Where is the City applying for funding?
The Metropolitan Council's Regional Solicitation is a competitive process to award federal transportation funding to projects that meet regional transportation needs. The Solicitation is part of the Met Council's federally required continuing, comprehensive and cooperative transportation planning process for the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. The funding program and related rules and requirements are established by the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) and administered locally through collaboration with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT).
What impact would these projects have on traffic congestion/safety?
The TH 100/Vernon Avenue/50th Street Diverging Diamond Interchange would improve traffic operations by accommodating the high volume of turning traffic at the interchange and improve safety by reducing vehicle conflict points.
The Vernon Avenue Roadway Modernization and Multi-Modal Improvements Project would accommodate current and future traffic volumes while reallocating space for pedestrian, bicycle and transit movement.
When would these projects be constructed?
If selected, funding would be available for these projects in 2026 or 2027.
