Enjoy your last days on the existing Highlands Park playground, because the new one is coming soon!

The current playground is slated to be demolished in first thing in May and the new one installed right after, weather permitting. The same crew will be doing all the work, which should speed the process.

We'll post an update here and send out notices to the nearby neighborhoods via Nextdoor and the City Extra Neighborhoods email list as soon as we have a better time frame. (Sign up for City Extra, choose your Neighborhood from the list plus any other email lists you'd like to be on.)

Please keep children, pets and eager adults away from the playground area once the demolition/construction work begins until the tape and barriers are removed and the new playground is open.

Council approved the purchase of Highlands Playground designed by Northland Recreation and featuring Little Tikes Commercial components. This was option #1 selected during survey #2 here on Better Together Edina. The colors selected were also based on those survey results. Installation timeline will be updated when available. Thank you all for your help designing the new playground. We are excited for the new playground in 2025!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Highlands Park Playground survey. We received 88 surveys. The results will be given to playground vendors who will design the structures based off the preferences provided. Survey results will help to determine theme and style, features, and any special design requirements. Once designs are received city staff will review. We will then ask the communities help later this summer to select the final design and colors in a second survey.

Welcome to our Highlands Park Playground page! We want your help in choosing new play features for the playground starting with our first survey. We welcome kids and adults to take the brief survey (see the survey tab or click here). Spread the word, your input is wanted.

We will use this survey to ask vendors to make creative designs that incorporated the neighborhoods input. After designs are submitted and reviewed by staff, a second survey will be posted to get feedback on designs and color preferences.

    Survey closes June 30th.
