Update

After digging and shoring a working area about 12-14' below ground, Magney Construction and their workers from Laborers Local 563 and local iron workers formed up, reinforced and poured the 'cutting shoe' for the new Edina lift station 6. Workers from Braun Intertec, Cemstone, and Barr Engineering made sure the concrete was in top form and met the design provided by Wenzel Engineering and Nucor steel.

In this photo you can see the crane taking position near the newly poured concrete 'cutting shoe' structure. The next step will be to 'sink' the structure by excavating out the middle. This part of the works will never be seen again, but will form the base and deepest part of the structure 3 stories down. For more on the caisson method of construction we are using check out the video in the updates on this page.
