Chowen Park A & B Neighborhood Roadway Reconstruction updates will be hosted on this project page. Check back for updates!

This project includes complete reconstruction of the roadway pavement, full installation of concrete curb and gutter, complete replacement of watermain and water services, improvements to the sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems, paving the gravel alleys and construction of a 5-foot boulevard-style concrete sidewalk on the east side of Beard Avenue between West 60th Street and West 58th Street.

  • Beard Avenue Sidewalk Snow Removal

    Property owners are responsible for snow removal on the sidewalks adjoining their property.

    To keep pedestrians safe, sidewalks must be cleared of all ice and snow during the winter. According to Edina City Code 1200.03, "All snow and ice shall be removed from a sidewalk by the owner of the property adjoining the sidewalk within 48 hours of the cessation of the precipitation." This means property owners must clear sidewalks of all snow or ice within two days of the end of a snowfall. Any snow removed from walkways, driveways or sidewalks must remain on the...

Snow cannot be plowed into City streets or onto a neighboring property.

    If snow and ice are not removed within seven days after receiving a written notice from the City, residents may be charged for the cost of removal by the City, which could exceed $300.

    The project is now considered substantially complete. There are minor items remaining that the contractor will address in the Spring of 2020.

    The seeded areas will be monitored throughout the Spring of 2020 to ensure proper turf establishment.

    The streets are paved, topsoil and seed are in, and all major items are complete.

    There are various items throughout the project area that still require attention. Some of these remaining items include landscaping, irrigation repairs, grading of lawns along driveways and alleys.

    I will walk the project area during the week of October 21 to prepare the remaining work items list. If you would like to bring something specific to my attention, please email me your address, the issue, and the specific location. If possible, pictures are helpful.

  • NO PARKING - FINAL PAVING

    The contractor will be paving the final layer of asphalt along the following streets on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17.

    • Chowen Avenue
    • Beard Avenue
    • Abbott Avenue
    • Zenith Avenue
    • York Avenue and
    • West 59th Street

    No Parking restrictions will be enforced by Edina Police Department. It is imperative that the streets remain clear of all parked vehicles. Expect brief delays during paving. The roadway may be driven on as soon as crews have placed, rolled and compacted the asphalt.

    The contractor will be paving the final layer of asphalt along the following streets on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17.

    • Chowen Avenue
    • Beard Avenue
    • Abbott Avenue
    • Zenith Avenue
    • York Avenue and
    • West 59th Street

    During the week of October 7th crews installed the remainder of the sidewalk along Beard Avenue and the miscellaneous resident sidewalk tie-ins throughout the project area. Crews also began installing topsoil and seed along the remainder of West 59th Street and Beard Avenue.

    The contractor has tentatively scheduled a storm sewer pipe repair at the intersection of West 59th Street and Zenith Avenue on Monday, October 14. The final pavement lift for all remaining streets is tentatively scheduled to occur during the week of October 14.

    During the week of September 23rd crews completed the grading and paving of Beard Avenue and West 59th Street. Crews also completed the topsoil installation and seeding work on Chowen Avenue and Abbott Avenue. The boulevard grading for the Beard Avenue sidewalk also began.

    During the week of September 30th, crews will continue working on the Beard Avenue sidewalk and turf restoration.

    The contractor will continue to water the seeded areas. To ensure the entire project area is watered it is imperative that the no parking restrictions are adhered to. Please inform your guests, contractors and neighbors that no parking...
