Grass Growing Tips
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link16 Aug 2019All streets are now paved with the final layer of asphalt!
The Turf Contractor has applied hydroseed to disturbed areas. Hydroseed is a custom blend of seed, mulch and fertilizer. When mature, hydroseed provides a lawn more resistant to weather and pests.
Tips to help grass grow.
- Water - The contractor will continue to water the seeding for the first 90 days. The mulch bed should be moist but not over watered. Puddles = over watering. Continue to water even after grass looks established.
- Fertilize - A commercial fertilizer is applied with the hydroseed. Additional fertilizer and herbicides are not recommended during the initial year of seeding as they can have damaging effects on grass sprouts.
- Mowing - Do not mow new grass until it is 6" high. When grass reaches this height, mow at the highest setting. Cut with this setting for the first few months, even after grass looks established. Do not collect clippings as they help feed the soil while grass develops.
- Preventing Weeds - Weeds will likely appear with new grass. Properly watered, mowed and fertilized grass will prevent weeds from gaining a stronghold.
The City of Edina and Bituminous Roadways thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout the road reconstruction.

Construction Update
Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link09 Aug 2019The week of August 12
Gleason Terrace and St. Albans Circle - Monday, August 12th crews will be paving the final layer of asphalt. Please have all cars off the street by 7:00 A.M. Monday, August 12th.
Asphalt Paving - Please have all vehicles off the street by 7 am prior to contractor paving operations. Residents will have access to driveways during most of this work, although access may be temporarily blocked for 20-30 minutes while crews are paving directly in front of your house. Crews will work to maintain an open lane for traffic during paving. Do not drive on the shiny black oiled surface as this will stick to car tires and can track onto driveways. The roadway may be driven on as soon as crews have placed, rolled and compacted the asphalt.
Plantings and Restoration - If you have not yet contacted me regarding landscape plantings, please do so by Wednesday, August 14th so the contractor can schedule the planting installation. Turf areas needing topsoil and seed or touch ups have been provided to the City’s turf restoration contractor who will return to complete the work.
