  • Asphalt Paving

    During the week of September 16th crews completed most of the concrete work in the project area. The north end of Brookside Terrace is still on hold until CenterPoint Energy can relocate two shallow gas services, which is scheduled for the week of September 23rd.

    The first layer of asphalt pavement is tentatively scheduled for September 25th along Motor Street and the portion of Brookside Terrace with curb and gutter.

    During the week of September 16th crews completed most of the concrete work in the project area. The north end of Brookside Terrace is still on hold until CenterPoint Energy can relocate two shallow gas services, which is scheduled for the week of September 23rd.

    During the week of September 9th crews installed some of the concrete curb and gutter throughout the project site. Crews will continue with the installation on Monday, September 16th. The north end of Brookside Terrace north of W. 44th St. is currently on hold until CenterPoint Energy relocates two shallow gas services. Towards the end of the week of September 16th crews will begin to prepare the road base for asphalt paving.

  • Curb and Gutter Construction

    On September 3rd crews began excavating and grading the roadway. Some of the road base material was unsuitable and removed and replaced with a better road base material.

    Crews will continue grading the street in preparation for the new concrete curb and gutter, which is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 9th. CenterPoint Energy may also be adjusting some gas services that conflict with the new roadway.

  • Storm Upgrades and Repairs Complete

    During the week of August 26th crews completed the sediment removal from Minnehaha Creek and installed the new storm sewer, including treatment structures to minimize sediment accumulation into the creek.

    The week of September 2nd crews will begin preparing the road base which will be followed by concrete curb and gutter installation the week of September 9.

  • Minnehaha Creek Gravel Removal

    During the week of August 19th crews completed the installation of water services and fire hydrants for the project.

    During the week of August 26th crews will begin removing gravel buildup in Minnehaha Creek at the storm sewer outlet. A large excavator will remove the gravel material but leave the natural creek bed intact. Erosion and sediment control measures have been installed to contain any disturbed material within the work area.

    Following the gravel removal crews will begin replacement of the storm sewer with treatment structures that will contain sediment and prevent it from entering Minnehaha...

  • Watermain Installed

    During the week of August 12th crews installed the new watermain and fire hydrant on Brookside Terrace north of W 44th Street and installed the new Brookside Terrace hydrants south of Motor Street.

    The week of August 19th crews will install new water services for the residents north of W 44th St that are supplied off of Brookside Terrace. A tree crew will also be onsite to remove the trees that have been marked for removal. Property owners with affected trees have been notified.

    Another road closure at Brookside Terrace and W 44th St is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st....

    During the week of August 12th crews installed the new watermain and fire hydrant on Brookside Terrace north of W 44th Street and installed the new Brookside Terrace hydrants south of Motor Street.

    The week of August 19th crews will install new water services for the residents north of W 44th St that are supplied off of Brookside Terrace. A tree crew will also be onsite to remove the trees that have been marked for removal. Property owners with affected trees have been notified.

    Another road closure at Brookside Terrace and W 44th St is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st. Residents south of W 44th St will again exit to the south. Brookside Terrace residents north of W 44th St will have to exit to the west towards Brookside Avenue.

    The City of Edina's contractor is working closely with CenterPoint Energy to determine where their gas main is located. This is challenging because their records do not exist for this area. If you were affected by a gas outage and continue to be affected, please contact CenterPoint Energy at 1-800-752-8036.

    Starting on Monday, August 12th, crews will install the new watermain on Brookside Terrace north of W 44th Street. The main will be installed utilizing the horizontal directional drilling process, which involves minimal excavation, and minimal disruption to traffic and driveways.

Brookside Terrace residents will have access to eastbound W 44th Street, but access to the west will be blocked. The contractor anticipates the road will be reopened by that evening.

    Later in the week crews will also begin excavating excess aggregate material in Minnehaha Creek off of Motor Street.

    Starting on Friday, August 9th the "No Parking" restriction for Brookside Terrace and Motor Street will be in effect, meaning parking is not allowed on either street within the project limits from the hours of 7am-9pm.

    Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in either July or August. Part of the project includes replacing a storm sewer pipe from Motor Street to Minnehaha Creek and the contractor will wait until the creek elevation subsides.

  • Project Awarded

    During the March 5th meeting, City Council awarded the ENG 19-2 Chowen Park A&B and Todd Park E Neighborhood Reconstruction project to Bituminous Roadways, Inc.

    The City is working with the contractor to finalize the construction schedule for this summer. A neighborhood meeting will be scheduled in the beginning part of April to inform all residents of the schedule and address any issues or concerns residents may have.


    During the March 5th meeting, City Council awarded the ENG 19-2 Chowen Park A&B and Todd Park E Neighborhood Reconstruction project to Bituminous Roadways, Inc.
