West 72nd Street Living Streets Demonstration Project

This project page will host two City projects geographically related, but different in scope.

The first project is the West 72nd Street Roadway Reconfiguration from Lynmar Lane to France Avenue. As part of a preliminary approval for a development project, City Council is requiring the developer to reconstruct that stretch of road.

The second phase of this project will be the West 72nd Street Pedestrian Safety Assessment from Oaklawn Avenue to Cornelia Drive. This phase will occur at a later date. Over the years, staff has received concerns related to pedestrian safety on West 72nd Street at these intersections. Staff would like to better understand the concerns and develop a trial assessment of safety improvements.

For more information on each project, see the updates tab below.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

This survey is designed to collect feedback on your experiences and observations on the temporary traffic delineators installed at the intersections of W 72nd St and Cornelia Dr/Oaklawn Ave. We are interested in the perspectives of pedestrians/cyclists as well as motorists traveling through these intersections.

The survey results, along with collected traffic data, will be used to develop a recommendation for permanent improvements at these intersections to address pedestrian safety.
