Welcome!

Every two years, the City of Edina creates a Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). This plan outlines the financing and timing of capital improvement projects for the next six years.

These projects include building improvements and construction, equipment and vehicle replacements, street reconstruction and maintenance, and water and sewer infrastructure maintenance.

The 2027-2032 CIP process is currently underway and will continue throughout the fall.

We've created a Capital Improvement Project Guide to help the community better understand:

  • What is a CIP?
  • How is the plan created?
  • How is the plan approved and funded?

Q&A

If you scroll through the guide and still have questions, please ask your question in the below Q&A section. We will get back to you with an answer.

Share your Capital Improvement thoughts here for consideration during our upcoming 2027 budget development process. The City Council wants to understand what matters most to the community as it considers the 2027 budget. While the City Manager develops the proposed budget based on Council direction, community needs and available resources, your feedback helps Council understand community priorities as it reviews the budget throughout the fall.

When will the City Mgr include safety upgrades at each at grade vehicle crossing with the Dan Patch railroad?

Kingsdown asked about 2 years ago

Staff continues to monitor rail traffic volume and speeds as it relates to safety of rail crossings. In staff's opinion, current volumes and speeds do not warrant at-grade rail safety investments. - Chad Millner, Director of Engineering
