What is in the Climate Action Plan?

A Climate Action Plan (CAP) helps a community identify what kind of natural and built environment they want to enjoy in the future, and what actions should be taken now to ensure that future.
In Edina, the plan will help those who live and work in Edina imagine and achieve a future where the Earth and all who live on it thrive. At the center of the plan are the City’s values of environmental stewardship, community equity and engagement.
The CAP includes the following parts:
- Climate Baseline – includes a community greenhouse gas Inventory, climate vulnerability assessment and identification of existing actions already underway in the community.
- Action plan – the Planning Team agreed on community goals and identified actions to be taken to meet them.
- Community Engagement – community members receive information and opportunities to share their opinions about what to include in the plan.
- Implementation – a successful plan includes what steps to take once the plan is written and the community is ready to start taking action.
