We understand the challenges in locating the most up to date information on a topic moving as fast as COVID-19. If you can't find your answers, feel free to reach out. City staff is here and ready to take your questions!

Please do not use the Q & A tool to report social distancing in parks. We have reassigned several employees to serve as park ambassadors, looking out for this sort of thing. If they see lack of social distancing, they will ask the group to comply with the Governor’s order and break up play. If you absolutely must make a report, call the Police Department’s non-emergency line: 952-826-1610.

Hi there! When will the Edina cases be uploaded for February? I noticed the last day of cases reported is January 31st. Thanks!

Anne Hill asked 2 months ago

The COVID dashboard is going to be updated with an increased lag time because the case data sometimes fluctuates for a few days as information is put together.  We are going to try a 7 day lag time to see if that helps with the fluctuations, so the data for early February will begin to appear next week.

Ive been paying to stay at a residence hotel in edina. I understand businesses are stressed, but I continue to be surprised at guests who arrive and walk around the public areas wearing no masks and no repercussions. Which wouldn't be so bad if they didn't choose to touch and enter every public area--computer room, tv room, the gym, even using the shower in the public restroom in the lobby!? One guest said she had copd and had gotten a negative covid test (which we all know is a snapshot in time.) She pointed to the Edina regulation saying masks are not required. Why have municipalities chosen not to enforce mask mandates? Especially in public areas at hotels where outbreaks could Occur? And do customers/guests have any recourse in these cases? Do you have suggestions for ways businesses can address the situation?

    covidity1 asked 4 months ago

Thank you for your question.  The City of Edina is following the requirements of the Governor's Executive Orders.  Businesses must have a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan for how they are ensuring safety and compliance for customers.  Contact management of the business so they are aware of the issue and can address it.  Please feel free to contact the Edina Health Division at 952-826-0370 to discuss the situation further.

Is the centennial lakes going to be open for figure skating this year? If so- what day will that open? Thank you!

    Jay asked 4 months ago

At this time, the skating rink remains closed due to thin ice. As soon as ice conditions are favorable, we will open. We are shooting for December 26. The rinks will be maintained this year, however, the warming house and skate rental will remain closed due to the pandemic and social distancing policies. Please check the Centennial Lakes Park facebook page for further updates.

I thought the superintendent sent out a mailing stating Edina schools were going to start publishing Covid cases on the city website. Could you point me to this information? Thank

The format of the school district data to be added to the dashboard is still being developed and will be added when ready.

at the track in Edenborough park are the number of users at one time controlled ?

    lcbrandberg asked 6 months ago

The track is walk-in only at a first-come, first-serve basis during open hours.  Edinborough staff tracks the number of participants through check-in and the space is limited. The max capacity is 25% or 18 walkers.

COVID - I see there has not been new data added to the dashboard after 9/23. Is this because there are no new cases or just not updated? Kim Guettler School Nurse, Concord, Creek Valley

    Kim asked 7 months ago

The dashboard is updated when staff are available to do so, so may not be updated each day or over weekends.  The information has now been updated, so should be displaying new data today or tomorrow.

The City's COVID-19 dashboard has a chart of new cases per day. Can you confirm whether that is reporting new cases by sample date, like the MDH's Situation Update? Or is it reporting new cases by date reported to the MDH/City? (The former is much more helpful, especially when a backlog of positive tests is reported all on one day, like I think happened today.) Thanks!

    Douglas asked 8 months ago

The count is the total number of cases reported in Edina up to that date as provided by MDH.  The data is reported as a total number, as well as the rate of change each day.  It is not reported by sample date, it is reported on the date the City was provided the data from MDH.

Is anything happening to businesses not complying with mask mandates? I have to switch from a medical facility because they are not masking

    anibbe asked 8 months ago

Response to complaints regarding face coverings is being done with an education-focused response.  Outreach and education is done with those businesses when the City or State receives a complaint about face coverings.  We then work with the business to make sure they understand the requirements.

Can you add the number of tests and/or positivity data (with 7-day moving averages) to the COVID-19 dashboard, similar to what is there already for daily cases?

    Douglas asked 8 months ago

We do not have access to the total number of tests by City, we receive the number of positive cases only, so cannot add that data to the dashboard.
