We know our doors are closed, but as a community we can still stay connected. #EdinaTogether

We understand the challenges in locating the most up to date information on a topic moving as fast as COVID-19. If you can't find your answers, feel free to reach out. City staff is here and ready to take your questions!

Please do not use the Q & A tool to report social distancing in parks. We have reassigned several employees to serve as park ambassadors, looking out for this sort of thing. If they see lack of social distancing, they will ask the group to comply with the Governor’s order and break up play. If you absolutely must make a report, call the Police Department’s non-emergency line: 952-826-1610.

Are the people who work in Dr's offices in Edina required to wear face masks?

    KarenLee asked 14 days ago

By June 29, 2020, all business must have a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in place.  This plan must include what a business is doing to minimize the spread of COVID-19.  You may ask to see a businesses plan.  Guidance from MDH around business operations can be found here: https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/businesses.html

Page 2 of the preparedness plan checklist includes guidance around masks, and says that businesses should 'require the use of source control face coverings'.

Are there any COVD-19 specific rules regarding garage sales this summer?

    Ruthie asked 13 days ago

Organizers of garage sales should comply with the current Governor's executive orders and guidance.  I have not seen any guidance specific to garage sales, but organizers should set up to maintain social distancing and take precautions regarding sanitizing and mask use.

    Are block parties currently allowed?

Toopan asked about 1 month ago

No, block parties are not permitted under the current executive order, as they would encourage gathering of more than 10 people.  This guidance may change in the future as the Governor's executive orders are updated/changed.

Can I hold an estate sale/garage sale?

Lucybob asked about 1 month ago

Current guidance from Minnesota Department of Health does not allow garage sales/estate sales at this time, as this can encourage gatherings of more than 10 people and present challenges for social distancing.

NS asked about 2 months ago

At this time, we do not have a policy about wearing masks in public spaces.

My drivers license expires May 21. I have filled out the pre-application at dvs.dps.mn.gov, and I have called my local AAA license place about coming in to have my picture taken and have the eye test. A woman there said they don't don't know when they will reopen as they are trying to figure out how to do that safely. I know I am far from the only person in this position, but I don't feel right driving etc. with an expired license even though I can't do anything about it. What advise do you have for people like me.

Mary Phelps asked about 2 months ago

    Hello,

I checked with the Police Department, and was told that officers are aware that the DMV has been closed and are not issuing those citations at this time, so you will be ok to drive in your situation. Just be sure to renew your license as soon as possible when the services are available again.

How many Edina residents are confirmed to have contracted COVID? Where do I read the regulation that police are speaking to when breaking up a group of children playing on private property????

    Neely19 asked 2 months ago

You should not expect to see the numbers of laboratory-confirmed cases in Edina. The Minnesota Department of Public Health (MDH) is not publicly reporting cases by cities, only counties. When there is a death, MDH will only report the county of that person’s residence and decade of life (“a person in their 80s from Hennepin County,” for example). MDH urges everyone to assume COVID-19 is in every community and to act accordingly, practicing good hygiene, social distancing and staying home when sick.

MDH is now reporting the names of long-term care facilities of a certain size with one or more residents or staff with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. Find the list online at https://www.health.state.mn.us/diseases/coronavirus/situation.html.

City park ambassadors, and in some cases Police Department staff, are addressing gatherings in City parks that are in violation of the Governor's Executive Orders around gathering.  The current executive orders can be found here; https://mn.gov/governor/news/executiveorders.jsp

I am wondering if any decisions have been made about the aquatic center this summer and you think it will open or not. I know the early date for season passes is approaching and I not sure if we should buy them or not. Any insight would be appreciated!

Sarah Sander asked 2 months ago

    Hello,

Once it is determined if we will be able to open the pool, we will extend the Early Bird Season Pass discount deadline.  We don’t recommend purchasing a pass until that decision is made.

Hello, We live on Bruce in Edina and I thought I saw something on Facebook from the city on social distancing and fire pits gatherings? I am unable to find it now. Could you please tell me where to find it, if it did come from the city of Edina or if you have any guidelines for us? Thank You, Kristen Vietzen

    Kvietzen asked 4 months ago

The City has not posted anything specific to camp fire gatherings. Gathering around a fire pit may not align with social distancing recommendations. However, if an individual wants to have a recreational fire per the Fire Department Recreational Fire Guidelines they would be allowed to do that. Keep in mind as spring approaches and the grasses dry out we will most likely implement our usual spring time fire ban.

Hello, It would be better if we have additional information covid 19 cases in Edina, so it help the residents to prepare better and avoid contracting the same, like location of the cases in the Edina city. Thanks Ash

Specific information regarding COVID-19 cases, like location or any identifying information, is protected and not available to the public.  You can find the current information that is publicly available at the Minnesota Department of Health COVID-19 'Situation Update' page.

This morning I noticed the Doubletree Hotel parking lot filled with cars. Is there a large event in progress there and ,if so, why is that allowed when social distancing is being mandated? Thanx for your attention to this matter.

    R T Stratton asked 3 months ago

Some hotels are being/have been evaluated for other possible uses during the COVID-19 pandemic, so that may have been happening at the time.

Are kids allowed to play soccer (like just pass the ball to each other) while standing far away from each other, at parks? Also — are fields at the high school closed?

    Jackie asked 3 months ago

    Hello Jackie,

The most effective social distancing is avoiding interactions with anyone outside of the household. Individuals are responsible for using their best judgment around this issue, and activities should be done within social distancing guidelines. When in doubt, choose the safer option.

Is the city allowing garage sales at this time? Thank you.

    Les asked 3 months ago

It does not appear that garage sales are an exempted activity in the Governor's Emergency Executive Order 20-33, so garage sales would not be allowed at this time. This may change with future revisions to the executive order.
