The City of Edina seeks applications for projects that support and facilitate arts and culture activities and events in the community.

The art grant application period opens Friday, Feb. 2. The deadline to apply is March 15, and projects can be awarded up to $1,000. The applicant must be a Minnesota resident and either an individual, part of an Edina neighborhood group or association (as defined by City policy) or a legally formed non-profit doing business for the benefit of Edina residents.

“Through our research, we found many community grant programs throughout the United States with common themes of community building, trust and belonging, celebration of diversity, wellness promotion and community connection,” said Jennifer Faeth, a member of the Arts & Culture Commission spearheading the new program. “Our goal is to achieve these themes in Edina’s program.”

The following criteria must be met:

  • Project venue must be located in Edina
  • Event or activity must be open and accessible to the public
  • Project must occur in the future (grants are not retroactive)
  • Project must provide artistic and/or cultural benefit to Edina residents

Proposals may encompass a variety of artistic disciplines and a range of formats, including, but not limited to, visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, culturally based arts, and arts-integrated technology programs.

All proposals should strive to address access and equity in the planning and implementation of the project. All grant recipients must abide by state regulations which bar discrimination. If projects are located on City property or require additional City resources, including space, permits or other resources, such requests may be included on the application. Individuals or organizations may submit only one application per year.

Grant application recommendations are expected to be made at the Commission’s March 28 meeting.
