Post-Workshop Update

Thank you to everyone who commented here on Better Together or attended our community workshop Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility. City staff and consultants received valuable feedback for the design process. Community members were led by the city’s Values Viewfinder team through a process to explore design elements to the Community Health and Safety Center in a way that considers community-wellbeing. The process explored potential benefits and opportunities created by the station and how this relates specifically to Community Engagement, Health –in- all- policies, Race and Equity, and Sustainability.

In addition to community engagement the Values Viewfinder was also used for staff engagement. City staff representing departments across the city provided feedback through the tool and workshop. All ABC shift Paramedic Firefighters also participated in staff workshops. A report can be viewed here that incorporated all of our workshops.

Next steps of the design process include a second round of engagement through an in-person workshop and Better Together Edina, where staff will share sketch plans reflecting input on programming and design shared by the community. Community members can then share their feedback on the sketches. Finally, city staff will hold a meeting in the summer of 2023 showing the approved designs and answering any questions. The final designs will also be provided here on Better Together Edina and staff will be able to respond to any questions.
