Fox Meadow Park at 5251 Blake Road is getting new playground equipment!

We want your input on the design of this new playground, including:

  • Style of equipment
  • Color palette of playground
  • Play equipment features

Decisions that have already been made include:

  • Playground intended to remain in approximately same area of park
  • Playground sized to appropriately service neighborhood users
  • Capital budget allocation of $150,000 for the project

Project goals/process include:

  • Include play equipment for age groups 2-5 and 5-12
  • Meet accessibility requirements
  • Replace the pea gravel surface with sustainable wood chips
  • Work directly with the community throughout the process to ensure concerns and aspirations are consistently understood and considered
  • Select a playground vendor to create at least two design concepts to share with residents and receive feedback
  • Make a final design concept recommendation to Edina City Council

    The new playground at Fox Meadow Park is scheduled to open Wednesday, Nov. 8! Yay!

    Workers are finishing up the final touches as we write this on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Once that's done and it passes all the final safety inspections, it will open.

    Please remain out of the area until the work is done and any tape or barriers are removed. Once all that comes down, Fox Meadow will be open for play.

    We can't wait to hear and see what you think of the new playground.

    Thank you for your patience with our dust. New equipment will start installation October 16th week and may be a few days of work. Please visit back later in October to enjoy the new playground!

    Contractors and City Staff will be working on removing old playground equipment this week to make room for the new equipment. Please be patient during this process which includes playground demolition, concrete site work, a new playground installation, and wood chip installation. This process will be ongoing this month and next month.

    Exciting news!!! Fox Meadow Playground is progressing. Please mind our the construction the next few months. In September we will need to remove the existing playground and create a new concrete container to hold all the great new play components. New playground equipment will be installed in late October.


    Get in a few more visits in before saying goodbye.

    City Council approved staff recommendation based off community feedback. Playground colors were finalized based on community feedback and order was placed for equipment. An installation date of late Fall 2023 is anticipated. Updates will be posted closer to installation date.

    On July 18th City Council will be asked to approve Flagship Equipment's proposal of Landscape Structures equipment for the Fox Meadow Park Park Playground Equipment. This was submission E on our Better Together Edina Survey. The preferred submission received 23 votes which was 47% of votes. Upon approval, staff will work with Flagship equipment on installation and scheduling.
