How will the project be funded?
Shoreline naturalization and natural areas maintenance projects are paid for through the stormwater utility fund and have been approved in the City’s Capital Improvement Plan. Additionally, Nine Mile Creek Watershed District has awarded the City a grant of $13,133.50 through its cost share program which covers 50% of the site preparation and plant installation components of the project. No part of the project would be special assessed to property owners.
How will the project be maintained?
The contract with Applied Ecological Services includes three years of maintenance. Beyond that, the project will be incorporated into the natural areas management program along with other natural areas throughout the city.
