Melody Lake Park Ideas

mbiedenfeldalmost 3 years agoRun/fix the aerators in the lake
We live in the white house directly across from the west side of Melody Lake. The lake is disgusting earlier than normal this summer due to the low water and high temps. I'm told there are aerators in the lake; however they are no longer used as the city did not want to maintain them and pay for the electricity (please verify). Thoughts?

I suspect the neighborhood kids would like a short dock to fish from. They will probably catch more plastic bags than fish, but it would be fun nevertheless.

When we get a hard rain water rushes out of the storm drain like a waterfall. Bubbly eddies flow 100 yards down the lake stirring up a ton of sediment and turning the lake brown. Some kind of breakwater, jetty, or mini pond within a pond could really help.

Stock the lake with fish and add a dock to create a neighborhood fishing spot
0 comment1swjepsenover 3 years agoImprove all the shoreline owned by the City on Melody Lake
In addition to the northwest part of Melody Lake by the bench, the city also owns lakeshore property as part of the park extending southeast. This is the main part of Melody Lake park and is accessible from the park entrance on Grove St. There are fallen trees in the lake that have never been attended to. Adding grasses and maintaining the shoreline would be a good ongoing plan for the entire park.
