Construction Update - 7/28/2023

It’s come to our attention that the USPS has stopped delivering mail to parts of the project area due to construction. We apologize for this inconvenience. At the request of the USPS, the contractor will be installing a temporary mailbox bank for the USPS to deliver mail to. Please check your front door for details on where to pick up your mail.

Phase 1: Grimes Ave and Inglewood Ave

  • Roadway excavation and gravel installation is scheduled to begin the week of 7/31.
  • Excavation to replace poor soils with stable soils under the roadway and gravel is expected to be significant on the south half of Phase 1. Check your front door daily for temporary loss of driveway access.
  • Concrete curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway apron installation is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of 8/7.
  • If you had landscaping plantings, rock etc. impacted by construction, we need your help providing an itemized list of replacement landscaping items so the contractor can place the order with their supplier. Please reach out to Nina with details.

Phase 2: Monterey Ave and Lynn Ave

  • Removal of concrete curb and gutter and driveway aprons will continue into week of 7/31.
  • Watermain installation is complete on Lynn Ave and the south half of Monterey Ave. Water service installation will begin the week of 7/31.
  • Storm sewer installation began and will continue into the week of 7/31. Sump drain installation will follow water service installation and storm sewer improvements.
  • Roadway excavation and gravel installation is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monterey Ave following completion of the utility work and Phase 1 excavation.
  • Check your front door daily for temporary loss of driveway access.

Phase 3: Kipling Ave and W 40th St – Work tentatively scheduled to begin in early/mid-August

  • Roadway reclaiming is expected to take place in early August. Reclaiming is the process of grinding the existing asphalt into a gravel base and is anticipated to take 1-2 days to complete.
  • Utility work will follow reclaiming, driveway apron, and landscaping removals.
