Construction Update 9/29/2022

Phase 1

  • We encourage residents to help keep the grass moist. The more you help water the higher quality turf restoration you will get.

Phase 2

  • Remaining concrete work is anticipated to be completed during the week of 10/17. The contractor is expected to prioritize Phase 3 curb and gutter and residential driveway aprons before sidewalk installation.
  • The contractor has prepared most of the phase for topsoil placement. Topsoil placement began on 9/29, and will continue through 9/30.
  • Areas with remaining concrete work will have the topsoil placed after the concrete is poured.


Phase 3 – W 42nd Street

  • W 42nd St utility work began on 9/28 with Sanitary Sewer work. This work is now scheduled to last through 10/5.
  • Following the sanitary sewer work, crews will begin installing the new watermain along W 42nd St. This work is scheduled to last into the week of 10/10.
  • Concurrent with the watermain work, crews will begin installing the deep and large diameter storm sewer.
  • A daytime closure of W 42nd St will occur while large machines are installing the underground utilities. Please check your front door daily for time sensitive notifications related to driveway access. W 42nd St will reopen after work has concluded each day.


Phase 3 – Grimes Ave between W 42nd St & Morningside Rd

  • Roadway excavation and gravel installation on the remaining section of Grimes Ave will now begin on 9/30.
  • Curb & gutter and driveway apron installation will follow the roadway excavation, and are anticipated to begin late in the week of 10/3.


Phase 4 – Crocker Avenue

  • The contractor began roadway excavation and gravel installation on Crocker Ave on 9/28. This process is anticipated to last into the week of 10/3.
  • Curb and gutter and driveway apron installation will follow the roadway excavation, and are anticipated to begin late in the week of 10/3.


Phase 5 – Morningside Road and Grimes Avenue south of Morningside Rd

  • Based on the Xcel Energy delays on West 42nd Street, it's possible Phase 5 may need to be postponed until spring 2023. Many factors will contribute this, including Xcel Energy progress, weather, favorable conditions for utility work on West 42nd Street, etc. Stay tuned for future Phase 5 updates on BTE.
