Weber Forest

The area that I use most is Weber forest. I go there on daily walks with my dog to enjoy the trees, wildlife, meet up with other members of my community. I love being able to escape into the forest especially during lockdown.

Recently, I have been asking folks why they love Weber. Here are some of their stories about Weber and opinions about the project:

"During the chaos of the uprisings (we live right off Lake) my 8-year-old son would ask to come to Weber Park and walk in the woods. It is his safe place and a chance to get away from the chaos. Sometimes he'd bring his bike, sometimes the dogs. I'm so grateful for this time in the woods with him. It is such a gem in the city and would be awful to see it disappear"

"The Weber "Forest" has been my sanctuary, especially during the pandemic. It is so close to us, yet gives you a feeling of being in a different place that is peaceful and close to nature. We can't destroy these beautiful trees! I hope there are better solutions"

“I love that little park with a chance to see and hear birds and animals”

"For stormwater management: don't the trees do a big service by holding the land and absorbing water? It looks like a lot of erosion to me and the loss of productive trees. How sad to lose the natural forest for a pretend natural cemented project."

"I’ve been going there for 25+ years, first biking with friends, then with my pups, now with my little girls.

(If I understand the scenario accurately) The fact that it will become a “dumping ground” for runoff water because the construction companies, city engineers/planners couldn’t get it right is a disgrace to the public.

The fact that a handful of private homeowners will get to use it for their personal benefit is shameful.

Fingers are crossed."
