August 22nd, 2025 Update

Remember businesses are open and accessible. Please be patient when walking, biking, or driving in the area.
MnDOT crews are performing maintenance on overhead signs on Highway 100, which requires them to close the one lane in each direction. The City was unaware that this work was going to be done this summer. Though this work is primarily done at night, the traffic control remains set up during the day. This is typical industry practice as it costs money every time the contractor moves or adjusts traffic control. Their expected completion date is early September, before the next big ramp closures for the Vernon Ave project.
As reported with the June 26, 2025 Project Update, an Xcel Energy power line is in a different location than expected within the CPKC Railroad right-of-way. There is still no permit between Xcel and CPKC. Until the parties have agreements, permits, and a schedule for relocation, the project team can’t provide more details.
The developer at 5100 Eden Avenue is starting work this month. This week, they are installing a temporary sidewalk along the west side of Arcadia Ave from Eden Ave to the crosswalk at Vernon Shops to serve as the pedestrian detour route. Jersey barriers and fencing will also be installed around the property.
Please be aware students go back to school on August 25. This will increase traffic during drop-off and pick-up times in the Grandview Area extending along the Highway 100 frontage roads to Benton Ave. We have been working with MnDOT to adjust the ramp signals and will continue to adjust. Please plan for additional travel times in this area and be cautious and courteous to pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
Either September 8 or 15, the contractor will close the remaining off-ramps from Highway 100. This would include the exit ramp from northbound Highway 100 to Grange Road and the existing ramp from southbound Highway 100 to Arcadia Ave. The project team is developing new maps and communications for this traffic change. This is expected to last until mid-November.
Thanks for the continued patience with this project, Derek Huston
