The replacement process has started, we thank you for your patience as we ramp up construction at Yancey Playground. June 10th a crew of volunteers with Kids Around the World and the guidance of Northland Recreation Staff disassembled the playground at Yancey Park. These components will be taken to a warehouse to be restored and repaired before finding a new home oversees or in a community in need. A new playground will be installed based on survey selection and will be under construction in June and part of July. Please be patient with construction and stay out of the area for your safety and the integrity of the equipment. We will update the neighborhood and community when the playground has passed inspections and is ready for play.

Construction begins June 10th to remove the existing structure at Yancey Park. We are excited to say that this structure will be deconstructed, refurbished, and installed at another home as part of Northland Recreations "Kids Around the World Program". Once the playground is removed work will begin installing new equipment and surfacing. Weather dependent we hope to have things opened up at the beginning of June.

Council approved the purchase of Yancey Playground designed by Northland Recreation and featuring Little Tikes Commercial components. This was option #1 selected during survey #2 here on Better Together Edina. The colors selected were also based on those survey results. Installation timeline will be updated when available. Thank you all for your help designing the new playground. We are excited for the new playground in 2025!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the first Yancey Park Playground survey. We received 103 surveys. The results will be given to playground vendors who will design the structures based off the preferences provided. Survey results will help to determine theme and style, features, and any special design requirements. Once designs are received city staff will review. We will then ask the communities help later this summer to select the final design and colors in a second survey.

Welcome to our Yancey Park Playground page! We want your help in choosing new play features for the playground starting with our first survey. We welcome kids and adults to take the brief survey (see the survey tab click here). Spread the word, your input is wanted.

We will use this survey to ask vendors to make creative designs that incorporated the neighborhoods input. The proposals will be accepted in July. After designs are submitted and reviewed by staff, a second survey will be posted (anticipated August) to get feedback on designs and color preferences.

    First survey closes June 30th.
