  • Cross-country skiing trails
  • Pickleball
  • Courtney Fields baseball complex improvements

On December 19th, City Council approved a contract with Landbridge Ecological Services for the first step in natural resources restoration work. This contract is for the initial brushing and invasive vegetation control in 2024. Work on this contract will begin in January and initial brushing and removals will be completed by April. Site visits in summer and fall will target re-sprouts and invasive herbaceous vegetation using best management practices.

What you can expect to see:

The contractor will be in areas shown in the attached diagram. Work will consist of using a equipment mounted brush mower, hand cutting, debris hauling, and stump treatments of buckthorn throughout areas 1 and 2. Some material will be piled for collection or burning with approved permits and weather conditions.

City staff will continue to update you on contractors progress. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out.

We are excited to be working on refining the approved Braemar Park Master Plan. SRF has been hired to design the trail alignments throughout the park for Pedestrians and Mountain Bikers. We are fortunate to have Tim Wegner a well loved mountain bike trail designer working on trail locations and features that maximize terrain, views, and the mountain biking experience. SRF and RES a restoration expert are working together to analyze and create a sustainable ecological restoration plan and implementation.

For Courtney Fields WSB is working on designs for upgrades to both playability and spectator spaces. Sports Lighting Authority has also been brought on board to assist with field lighting. Plans and layouts include the addition of trail connections and a play structure for visitors and neighbors.

Exciting progress is being made, please join us for our September 6th open house to view the design concepts. Staff and consultants will be available to answer questions and speak with residents and potential park users about project components. If you are not able to attend please provide feedback and on trail alignments and Courtney Field Concepts here on Better Together Edina after September 6th. Master Plan implementation projects will span multiple years for both design and installation and updates will be supplied as soon as we have more accurate timelines.
