Kojetin Park at 4201 W 44th Street is getting new playground equipment!

We are looking for your input on the design of this new playground including:

  • Play Equipment Features
  • Style of Equipment
  • Color Palette of Playground

Designs must fit within the following conditions:

  • Playground must remain within the same footprint in the park
  • Playground sized to appropriately service neighborhood users
  • Capital budget allocation of $165,000 for the project

Project goals/process include:

  • Safe play equipment for age ranges 2-5 and 5-12
  • Meet accessibility requirements
  • Replace pea gravel surface with sustainable engineered wood fiber surface
  • Work directly with the community throughout the process to ensure concerns and aspirations are consistently understood
  • Provide multiple concepts or features for community to review and provide feedback on
  • Make a final design concept recommendation to Edina City Council
  • Minimize disturbances where possible during installation

    Thank you all for your patience during construction. The structure has been installed but safety surfacing is not yet in place. Installation is scheduled but is weather dependent. Please keep off equipment until surfacing is in place your user safety and integrity of equipment for the future. We will let everyone know when it is ready for play and look forward to opening up for the neighborhood and the community.

    Construction will begin May 5th for the replacement of the Kojetin Park Playground. This process includes the removal and recycling of the existing structure as well as the removal of the pea gravel material. A new structure that was selected by the community will then be installed and engineered wood fiber and safety surface will be installed. This process will have the playground closed for May. Please stay off any equipment until we officially opened for play in June. Thank you for your patience.

    On December 16th 2025 City Council Approved the purchase of the replacement playground at Kojetin Park. Staff recommended Northland Recreation's design based off survey feedback. This play structure will be installed in Spring 2026. Updates and timeline will be posted once demolition date is set and installation timeline is confirmed. Thank you to all the community members that took both surveys to help us determine the play components, design, and colors for the replacement structure.
