72nd Street Improvements

Work Completed the Week of August 31st

• Utility work continued on both Phase 2 (W. 72nd, from Glouchester Avenue to Lynmar Lane) with watermain, storm sewer and sanitary sewer replacement
• Roadway paving occurred on a portion of Phase 1 including the intersection of Cornelia Drive

Work Planned for the Week of September 7th

• No work planned for Monday, September 7th in observance of the Labor Day holiday
• Roadway removals will occur on Phase 3 (W. 72nd from Lynmar to France)
• Utility work will wrap up Phase 2 (W. 72nd from Glouchester to Bristol)
• Utility work will begin on Phase 3 (W. 72nd from Lynmar to France)
• Roadway grading work is planned on remainder of Phase 1 (W. 72nd from Cornelia to Glouchester) and on Phase 2 (W. 72nd from Glouchester to Bristol)
• Utility work will continue on Phase 2 (W. 72nd, from Glouchester Avenue to Lynmar Lane)

France Avenue Closure

• The France Avenue closure has been scheduled to start Wednesday, September 16th. This closure is expected to be in-place for a 3-week duration. A detour map can be accessed via this BTE website. Postcards have also been mailed out to the surrounding areas. Local and business access will remain open until the full closure of France Avenue between Gallagher Drive and Hazelton Road.

Residential Access

• As the work continues to progress the project website will be updated regularly regarding access. The project team appreciates the patience and understanding during the moving operations of construction activity

School Safety

• The project team hopes everything with school starting up went well for everyone but still asks that guardians are making sure to assist their student(s) with navigating through the construction area. The contractor and project team will also make any efforts to help assist as necessary to keep everyone safe and getting to where they need to go.

Holiday Weekend

• The contractor will not be working on Labor Day, Monday, September 7th

Weekend Access

• All intersections within the project area will be accessible from the north or south direction. Lynmar Lane/W. 72nd will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Friday (9/4) Access

• The intersection of Lynmar Lane & W. 72nd will be getting closed on Friday (9/3) and for the foreseeable future as the contractor continues progressing towards France Avenue with their utility work. Please utilize open intersections of Cornelia, Glouchester, Heatherton, & Bristol from the north.

Friday (9/4) Water Shutdown

• A water shutdown that affects properties along Lynmar Lane north of W. 72nd will occur. The shutdown is scheduled to go from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Affected properties were notified earlier this week.

The left turn lane for northbound France Avenue traffic to turn onto W. 72nd Street is now closed for the foreseeable future as the contractor continues progressing east from Lynmar Lane towards France Avenue.

Starting today, the segment of W. 72^nd Street between Bristol Blvd & Lynmar Lane will be closed for the foreseeable future. This closure is required for the concrete backfilling of the shallower sanitary sewer piping. The project team appreciates everyone's patience and understanding as the project continues to progress.

Thursday (9/3) Access

• During most the day Thursday, all intersections within the project area will remain mostly accessible on Thursday (9/3) as the contractor is working on sanitary sewer replacement along W. 72nd between Bristol & Lynmar
• Tomorrow afternoon, the intersection of Heatherton & W. 72nd will be getting closed to complete the storm sewer work in the intersection. If you live in Heatherton Circle, please park on the north side of W. 72nd starting after noon tomorrow (9/3).

Wednesday (9/2) Access

• The intersection of Bristol & W. 72nd Street will be closed on Wednesday (9/2). Please plan on using alternate routes and parking north of W. 72nd if you live in Bristol Circle
• The other intersections within the project area will remain mostly accessible.

Tuesday (9/1) Access

• The intersection of Heatherton & W. 72nd Street will be closed again Tuesday (9/1), for most of the day into the early afternoon. Please plan on using alternate routes and parking north of W. 72nd if you live in Heatherton Circle
• The other intersections within the project area will remain mostly accessible.

Weekend Access

• All intersections will be open and accessible over the weekend.
  • Travel along W. 72nd Street is still not advised, please access the open intersections from either the north or the south

Monday (8/31) Access

• During the morning of Monday (8/31), the intersection of Glouchester & W. 72nd Street will be closed, the intersection will be reopened around noon. If you live south of W. 72nd on either Cornelia Drive or Glouchester Avenue, please utilize Cornelia Drive in the morning hours
• After around noon, the intersection of Heatherton & W. 72nd Street will be closed Monday (8/31), please plan on using alternate routes and parking north of W. 72nd if you live in Heatherton Circle
• The other intersections within the project area will remain mostly accessible. However, the contractor is planning on paving the roadway from the west end of the project through the Cornelia Drive intersection. There may be some short durations in which the intersection of Cornelia Drive will be restricted with the paving operations.

Work Completed the Week of August 24th

• Utility work continued on both Phases 1 and 2 (W. 72nd, from Glouchester Avenue to Lynmar Lane) with watermain, storm sewer and sanitary sewer replacement
• Roadway grading work occurred on a portion of Phase 1 including the intersection of Cornelia Drive
• Concrete curb was poured on a portion of Phase 1 including the intersection of Cornelia Drive
• W. 72nd from Oaklawn Avenue to Cornelia Drive was reopened to allow traffic with the school year starting up

Work Planned for the Week of August 31st

• Roadway paving is scheduled to occur on a portion of Phase 1 including the intersection of Cornelia Drive on Monday (8/31) in the afternoon
• Utility work will wrap up on Phase 1 and continue on Phase 2
• Roadway grading work will wrap up on Phase 1 and start on Phase 2
• Utility work will continue on Phase 2 (W. 72nd, from Glouchester Avenue to Lynmar Lane)

Residential Access

• As the work continues to progress the project website will be updated regularly regarding access. The project team appreciates the patience and understanding during the moving operations of construction activity

School Bus Stops & Safety

• The project team has been in communications with Edina Schools, bus stops along W. 72nd Street are being temporarily relocated. Please reach out to the Edina Schools or the project team if there are any issues
• The project team asks that with school starting next week that guardians are making sure to assist their student(s) with navigating through the construction area. The contractor and project team will also make any efforts to help assist as necessary to keep everyone safe and getting to where they need to go.
