Brook Drive Culvert Crossing
This project will replace the Brook Drive culverts at Nine Mile creek. The existing culverts and stormwater infrastructure has reached the end of its useful life. The project includes improvements to public utilities and stabilization of the creek bank.
Key Information:
- Planned construction is October/November 2024
- The project is funded by the stormwater utility fund, there is no special assessed cost to nearby residents.
- The scope of the replacement includes;
- Replacement of two culverts with a new box culvert
- Repair of nearby large diameter concrete storm pipe
- New sections of road, curb and catch basins
- Temporary water and watermain replacement
- Sanitary sewer lining

11/15 Update

Depending on weather conditions, we anticipate the road to be paved by mid to late week next week. The storm sewer on the west side of the culvert will also be undergoing maintenance and repairs as construction this fall wraps up. A temporary bituminous curb will be installed to last through the winter, and the contractors will come back in the spring to install a permanent concrete curb. Thank you for your patience as this stage of construction is finalized.

Owen Richey or the contractor have gone door-to-door to notify residents with apologies for the short notice.
The contractor will be taking garbage bins up the road for service.
Please consider parking your vehicle on Brook Drive between McGuire Road and Hillside Lane if you anticipate needing to drive during the day. Thank you for your patience.

We are still waiting on a gas line to be moved, and the rest of the construction work can not begin until this is done.
If the gas line is relocated, then there will likely be at least two days later this week with daily closures of the road during construction, starting at 8:00 am and ending in the evening. Please consider parking your vehicle on Brook Drive between McGuire Road and Hillside Lane on these days. On Tuesday, October 29th, there will be a daytime closure of the roadway so construction can occur. The road will be open before and after construction, but you will not have driving access during the workday. Please consider parking your vehicle on Brook Drive between McGuire Rd and Hillside Ln if you anticipate needing to drive during construction. You will be able to bring your car back to your house at the end of the day. There will likely be two more daytime road closures as construction is wrapped up, and those dates will be communicated to you once they are confirmed. Thank you for your patience.

Residents can drive their vehicles back to their homes at this time. During construction next week, there will be temporary closures during the day, but the road will be open in the mornings and after work is done in the evenings. We wanted to send out an update to let residents know to be alert when crossing the pedestrian bridge during and after the rain. The contractors will be widening a channel for water to flow under the bridge safely in case the streamflow increases. If you see water flowing over the bridge, do not attempt to cross, and please contact Owen Richey at 360-296-8278 and Ross Larson at 612-364-0601. Thank you.
