Excavator removing maintenance building

September construction brings earthwork and grading. Larger equipment will be onsite including excavators, backhoes, wheel loaders, stump grinders, and dump trucks to ve remove materials and set grades in the SW quadrant of the park. This work will be coordinated moving and removing of materials in order to dig foundations and set elevations for facility and recreational features in the heart of the park. These features including a new restrooms, playground, open lawn, parking lot and entry, as well as connecting pathways. Majority of work during September will be on the southern side of Nine Mile Creek Trail.

Parking lot grading and materials moving

What to expect:

Earthwork includes large equipment which does create some sounds during operations including back up and engine noise. Earthwork equipment can also create some vibrations during movement and digging, these will be minimized and monitored. This season has been drier than average so additional dust control is in place. Some materials due to make-up will need to be hauled offsite and sand hauled into site as an amendment. Heavy hauling events will be posted on Better Together Edina. Some crossing of the trail may be required at times but trail protection and trail user protection will be in place during these times.
