Is melody lake safe for dogs to swim in?
Amyessma asked 11 months agoMelody Lake water quality is not monitored for bacteria or blue-green algae.
In general, avoid contact with the water during and days after a rain event when bacteria levels may spike. For blue-green algae, information about risk is available from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency webpage, blue-green algae: 'If in doubt, stay out'.

Hi, A few weeks ago, I reached out about the erosion control fence still up along melody lake drive. It is for the most part, broken down and not serving a purpose. You said a contractor was going to check it out as you agreed it is an eyesore. Any updates on next steps? Thank you! - Mark Biedenfeld
mbiedenfeld asked over 1 year agoThe street reconstruction contractor is overdue on this item. We will continue to push them to get it done.

When will the posts and black and yellow fences be taken down both along the road and in the water? The restoration project is coming along nicely with the exception of the area that was not well-restored from the street reconstruction project in 2021
mbiedenfeld asked almost 2 years agoI stopped by the site Monday (7/18) and the erosion control devices were still in place. That same day I heard the street project inspector commit to working with the contractor to get it removed. It's not harming the restoration, but it is indeed an eyesore and no longer needed. Thank you for your patience!

Hi - what’s the latest on this project? There has been no activity so far in 2022 and Melody Lake Park looks terrible! Thank you.
Tom Forker asked almost 2 years agoThe site was seeded in late 2021. A management mow is planned for June. Plug and shrub installation will occur in the next 1-2 months.
Natural restorations take a few years to reach their full beauty - check out the recent 'Restoration Cycle' News Feed post.
If you'd like to see a local example of a similar project that is a little further along, you can visit the Lake Cornelia Vegetated Buffer project.

My children like to go down to the waters edge to see ducks, muskrats, fish and frogs. Will there still be a clearing or perhaps an installation of a viewing dock?
Fran0553 asked over 3 years agoThe proposed plan includes a rock landing near the existing bench. It could be used for viewing, fishing, and/or launching a canoe.
