Due to the weather forecast, the noise wall along the northbound Highway 100 onramp from 50th Street will continue to have sporadic daily closures between 9 am and 4 pm until April 10. The contractor is scheduled to place beams on the railroad bridge on April 7. This will require westbound 50th Street to be detoured to Eden Avenue except traffic using the northbound Highway 100 onramp. This will be a one day operation. Starting April 20, Gus Young Lane will be closed until late June to create enough space for construction access for underground utility, bridge, and street construction. Other than the Gus Young closure, traffic routing will remain approximately the same. Thanks, Chad Millner.

Questions are coming in when the contractor will resume work on the bridge. Recall they stopped working over the winter due to costs. They are monitoring the weather to determine when they can resume operations. Once they submit an updated schedule, we will share that out. Thanks.

Northbound Ramp Closure Update: The noise wall planking has been delivered. With the cold weather forecast, the contractor has again delayed starting installation. Work will start on Monday, February 2. This is different than the reported January 21 and January 26 dates. The contractor will start installing the noise wall planking on the northbound Highway 100 onramp from 50th Street. Temporary closures of the ramp will be required to create enough safe working space. The work will last 3 to 4 weeks. Closures of the ramp will be temporary between 9 am and 4 pm on weekdays. The detour route for northbound Highway 100 is the east frontage road to the northbound onramp at Benton Avenue. Thanks

Due to the forecasted, extreme cold weather, the contractor has decided to push the start date of the short term northbound Highway 100 on-ramp closures for noise wall plank installation to Monday, January 26. Thanks for the understanding.

Great News, the intersection of Interlachen Blvd, Vernon Ave and Gus Young Lane reopened to traffic on this week with the use of temporary signals. The temporary signals will be operating until the contractor resumes work in the spring. The exact date will be determined based on weather. The traffic signals and power to light the signals on the Highway 100 Bridge are tentatively scheduled for mid to late January. The noise wall planking is scheduled for delivery early January. After delivery, the contractor will provide an installation plan for us to share. There may be a couple northbound Highway 100 onramp closures next week to straighten noise wall posts. There is not enough room for the contractor to complete this work with the ramp open. It would be a temporary closure between 10 am – 2 pm over two days. Access to northbound Highway 100 would be from Benton Avenue for those durations. Please continue to visit https://www.bettertogetheredina.org/vernon-hwy100 for project updates. Thank you for your patience.

Since November 15, the on and off-ramps of Highway 100 and the Highway 100 bridge have been open to traffic. Traffic is currently controlled by stop signs. The traffic signals and power to light the signals are tentatively scheduled for mid to late January. The noise wall planking is scheduled for delivery early January. After delivery, the contractor will provide an installation plan for us to share.
As previously detailed, the contractor will work as long as weather allows on the Vernon Ave Bridge over the railway this fall. It looks like by mid-December, work will stop. The contractor is trying to get far enough along to be able to place the bridge beams this winter so work can resume in the spring when weather allows. We still plan to open Gus Young Lane to Interlachen Blvd and Vernon Ave with a temporary traffic signal. The contractor will store some materials and equipment at 5146 Eden Avenue during the pause in construction. Please continue to visit https://www.bettertogetheredina.org/vernon-hwy100 for project updates. Thank you for your patience.

Overnight on Friday, November 14, into Saturday, November 15, the on and off-ramps of Highway 100 and the Highway 100 bridge will be re-opened to traffic. This includes all the on and off-ramps. There has been a delay in the noise wall planking. Space is very tight along the on-ramp to northbound Highway 100 to be able to install the planking under traffic. The contractor is developing options on how to install those planks where space is tight. More information will be provided when known.
