The project is substantially complete. A few small areas of boulevard restoration and tree planting remain along with a little clean-up. The project team appreciates the patience as this project lasted longer then expected. Thank you. Chad Millner, City Engineer.

Construction operations will be starting soon. These include the retaining wall and trail segment under the railroad bridge along Eden Avenue. Tentative start date is April 17. Landscaping and plantings will also occur when the weather allows. In the next couple weeks work will also start on the abutments for the pedestrian bridge at the Grandview Parking Ramp. Please stay out of any work zones and away from equipment at all times. Thank you.

Finally, the Eden and Arcadia Avenue Roundabout is open to traffic. There are a few items such as landscaping that will occur. Be careful traveling in the area as there will be contractor equipment and personnel. The Eden Avenue bridge will be closed during business hours thru the end of the week to allow the developer on the east side of Highway 100 a safe area to remove large sheet piling materials.

Starting Monday, October 3 for three weeks, Wilson Road will be either a one-way southbound or completely closed for gas main, sanitary sewer, and watermain work. Please be patient as these projects wrap up for the year. Thanks

Good News. The Eden and Arcadia Roundabout Project is wrapping up. The contractor will be installing pavement markings early next week. Look for the road to open to the public late next week.

Bad News. Over the past 6-weeks, City staff has been holding back CenterPoint Energy and the developer at 4917 Eden Avenue or the old Perkins Site. Both need to close Wilson Road to install infrastructure for their respective projects; a gas main and sanitary sewer pipes. This closure will be signed and the detour route will utilize the new roundabout at Eden and Arcadia Avenues.

Thanks for your patience as this project lasted a few weeks longer than hoped.

Weather permitting, all concrete work on the project (except underneath the railroad bridge) will be completed by end of day tomorrow. We continue to work with railroad representatives to get the required agreements in place to complete that work. Because the schedule for receiving those agreements is unknown, the work underneath the railroad bridge could be delayed until next year. Regardless of when this work takes place, it will be completed without closing the road to traffic.

Next week, the Contractor is planning to begin placing topsoil, installing signs, and placing seed. Once complete, the Contractor will be able to pave the final layer of asphalt, which is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 19. The pavement must cool sufficiently before pavement markings may be placed (typically several days) so expect that work to take place the week of September 26.

Concrete work is quickly coming together east of the railroad. Nearly all of the new curb and gutter has been poured and crews are scheduled to be on site this Friday, August 26th, to pave the first two layers (of three total) of new asphalt between Brookside Ave and the Our Lady of Grace driveway. Access to Brookside Ave will be maintained while the asphalt is paved, but there may be some delays for traffic/deliveries in the area while work in the intersection is completed.

Work will continue next few weeks east of the railroad with pouring the new sidewalk, installing lighting and pedestrian flashers, paving asphalt, and restoring turf areas. The final layer of asphalt for the entire project area east of Brookside Ave will take place sometime within the next month or so.

Weather dependent, concrete work will start today, August 18. The contractor intends to stay onsite until all the concrete curb and gutters and medians for the street and roundabout are completed. If weather allows, some paving could occur late next week to allow access to OLG for the start of school on August 29 from the northwest. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by late September / early October. The project team understands the impact to traffic this has had and are quickly trying to finish the project and re-open the area to traffic. Thanks for the continued patience.

The contractor submitted a schedule update this morning. All underground utility work has been completed. If weather and operations hold, concrete curb is tentatively planned for the week of August 15 with the first layer of asphalt paving tentatively planned for the week of August 22. Note that in order to pour all the concrete prior to school starting, we will have to close Eden Ave to all traffic from Brookside Ave to Arcadia Ave to allow the concrete to cure. Details of that closure will be communicated as the schedule becomes known.

The contractor has been back onsite this week. All underground utilities should be completed by the end of the week. Work will start on a large block retaining wall at the northeast corner of the intersection on Wednesday. There is a chance that if the installation of the wall goes smoothly, the project could be completed prior to October. Thanks
