With the current wet weather and the forecasted outlook next week, the start date for construction remains a bit of a moving target.
After discussing with the contractor this morning, work on the new retaining wall located on the south side of Eden Ave just west of the railroad bridge is anticipated to begin either late next week or early in the week of April 18. Two-way traffic on Eden Ave will be maintained during this work (including access to Brookside Ave). The sidewalk on the south side of Eden Ave will be closed between Grandview Square and Highway 100. This sidewalk closure is expected to remain in place through the construction season.
TENTATIVE WEEK OF APRIL 25: ROAD CLOSURE: Underground utility work between Arcadia Ave and the Our Lady of Grace driveway on Eden Ave is tentatively scheduled to begin on April 25th. Eden Ave will be closed to all traffic during this work. Traffic will be detoured via 50th St and Vernon Ave as shown in the attachment. This closure is anticipated to be in place for approximately one month.

Sanitary sewer lining is scheduled to begin next week. The map shows the specific locations where the lining will be taking place. This will generally consist of a truck parked at a manhole with no excavation being required. Through traffic and business access will generally be unaffected by this work with only short term lane closures being required.
In an effect to reduce impacts to businesses, all lining is proposed to take place during overnight hours, except for the segment scheduled for Friday, March 25th, which will take place during daytime hours. Crews will be on site for night work between approximately 7 PM and 7 AM, with lining beginning at about 8 PM.

The contractor will be resuming work this week. They intend to start with sanitary sewer cured in-place pipe (CIPP) lining. This work requires access to the sanitary manhole covers in the street. The first operation is to clean, jet and televise the pipes. After televising, they will begin the lining process on Monday, March 28. The roads will be open to traffic but expect some locations will require taking turns to pass in each direction. Thanks, Chad Millner, City Engineer.

Beginning on Tuesday, August 3, Eden Ave will be closed to through traffic between Grandview Square and the railroad bridge. A detour to Vernon Ave/50th St will be in place. Access for local traffic to individual driveways (as well as Brookside Ave) will be maintained. In an effort to limit traffic through the construction area, please notify tenants, customers, and employees of this closure and urge them to seek alternate routes as well (if available).
Work expected to begin next week includes the placement of traffic control devices and detour signage, the installation of the temporary water main system, and the removal of Phase 1 (from Grandview Square to the railroad) pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and trees.
In addition, a brief shutdown to the water main is expected next week to facilitate the installation of the temporary water main. Businesses that will be impacted by this shutdown will be notified at least 24 hours in advance. Once the temporary water main is in place, work on the new water main will begin.
Phase 1 is expected to be completed later this fall. Work on Phase 2 (from the railroad to TH 100) will begin next spring.
