This project, scheduled for construction in 2024, includes:

  • Complete reconstruction of the asphalt pavement,
  • Complete reconstruction of the concrete pavement with asphalt pavement,
  • Full installation or replacement of concrete curb and gutter,
  • Complete replacement of the majority of the watermain and water services,
  • Improvements to the sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems,
  • Complete replacement of the street lighting system, and
  • Construction of a concrete sidewalk along Barrie Road and a portion of West 65th Street and Heritage Drive to complete gaps in the pedestrian network.
  • A preliminary assessment amount of $950.00 per multi-family residential unit (condominium or apartment owner), was approved by the Council at the December 2023 public hearing. This $950.00 per REU amount has been recorded with Hennepin County as pending assessments for all impacted properties.

    Soil Borings are scheduled for the week of 8/7.

    This is the process of drilling holes in the ground to collect soil samples to gain a basic understanding of the subgrade conditions under the pavement. This information will assist in the roadway and utility design.

    Hello and welcome to Better Together Edina. This web page will be the hub for sharing information related to roadway reconstruction scheduled for 2024 in the Southdale B neighborhood. Important updates will be posted on this web page at various points during the Engineering Study phase. Anticipate weekly updates during construction in 2024. Key project milestones include:

    • June 2023 – Begin Engineering Study preparation
    • Fall – Informational video
    • Nov. 2023 – Engineering Study complete
    • Dec. 2023 – City Council / Public Hearing meeting to consider authorizing project design
    • Mar. 2024 – City Council meeting to consider authorizing construction
    • Apr. 2024 – Construction begins
    • Oct. 2024 – Construction substantial completion
