This project, scheduled for construction in 2024, includes:

  • Complete reconstruction of the asphalt pavement,
  • Complete reconstruction of the concrete pavement with asphalt pavement,
  • Full installation or replacement of concrete curb and gutter,
  • Complete replacement of the majority of the watermain and water services,
  • Improvements to the sanitary sewer and storm sewer systems,
  • Complete replacement of the street lighting system, and
  • Construction of a concrete sidewalk along Barrie Road and a portion of West 65th Street and Heritage Drive to complete gaps in the pedestrian network.
  • A preliminary assessment amount of $950.00 per multi-family residential unit (condominium or apartment owner), was approved by the Council at the December 2023 public hearing. This $950.00 per REU amount has been recorded with Hennepin County as pending assessments for all impacted properties.

    • Access to properties along Barrie Road between W 65th Street and Heritage Drive will have delays that may be up to 30 minutes. If that is too long of a delay, please refer to map for parking options.
    • Residents of The Colony at Edina with only one driveway access within the road excavation area are encouraged to park on Barrie Road in the yellow areas on the map, or be patient with the construction crews.
    • One of the Edina Towers driveways will be open and the other will be closed during the excavation work. Residents of Edina Towers will need to be aware and use the open driveway while the other is closed.
    • Excessive vehicle speeds are prevalent in the project area, so please slow down. We encourage safety for both you AND the construction crew.

    • Expect short term delays driving on Barrie Road between W 66th Street and Heritage Drive. These delays will include closures to excavate for the road. Please plan your trips to account for these short-term delays.
    • Access to properties along Barrie Road between W 65th Street and Heritage Drive will have delays that may be up to 30 minutes. If that is too long of a delay, please refer to map for parking options.

    Barrie Road

    • Storm sewer installation is complete.
    • Roadway excavation is scheduled for the week of 9/3 starting on W 66thStreet.
      • This work will cause traffic delays of up to 30 minutes on Barrie Road. Updates will be sent out throughout next week as roadway excavation continues north from W. 66th Street to Heritage Drive.
      • Excavation work is anticipated to last at least one week.


    Heritage Drive

    • Sidewalk installation is complete.
    • Irrigation repairs and retaining wall installation is scheduled for the week of 9/9.
    • Although the first layer of asphalt is complete, no parking remains in effect on Heritage Drive.


    W. 65th Street

    • While the street is gravel, it is open to vehicular traffic. Please drive slowly.
    • Xcel Energy’s relocation of their facilities is scheduled to begin mid-September. Sorry for the delay.

    Barrie Road

    • Water shut offs will continue into the week of 7/15. These water shut offs are necessary to switch properties over to temporary water service. Property managers have been notified when the water shut off is occurring. Please contact your property manager about when the water shut off is occurring.
    • The contractor will continue working at night and early morning into the week of 7/15 to work on water services.
    • We understand that night work can be disruptive, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. The decision to carry out these tasks during the night was made to ensure that there are fewer interruptions to the water supply during critical daytime needs, allowing residents, businesses, and essential services with larger volumes to continue with their daytime activities without disruption.
