York Avenue Trunk Sanitary

Thank you for your patience, curiosity, questions and support as we completed this 3rd phase of the York Avenue Trunk Sanitary.

We'll be back for segment 4, 69th to 66th section in 2027 or 2028. Follow these and other construction projects as we engaged neighbors and community members and reinvest in, and renew our aging infrastructure;

This week

• Installation of traffic signs and pavement markings
• Repair and programming of traffic signals
• Final testing of sewer line, installation of internal drop structures
• Final clean-up
• The probable reopening of the southbound lane late Thursday or Early Friday

Eastbound 69th and Hazelton remain closed - Follow the France Avenue detours – avoid dangerous and illegal cut though maneuvers.

Law enforcement will continue enforcing the wrong way and illegal traffic movements in the area. Avoid an expensive ticket and stay safe!

• Next Week: We project the probable reopening of southbound York Avenue on Thursday 10/30, or Friday 10/31.

• SEPARATE PROJECT IS CLOSING NORTHBOUND YORK FOR UP TO 2 WEEKS - October 15 - 31
  • Northbound York Avenue (County Road 31) is closed between Hazelton Road and 70th Street. Crews will connect sanitary sewer and water lines for the future Southdale Library. • Southbound York Avenue is on schedule to re-open to traffic around the end of October.

• Completion of new sanitary sewer pipe is expected by the end of the week.
• Private utility companies will be on site to prepare their facilities for backfill.

Week of 9/28

• CenterPoint Energy crews will be working in the area to install a new gas main on 69th Street from York Ave to approximately 400' east.
• Grading for new roadway and placement of gravel for the new roadway base.

Week of 10/6

• Placement of gravel for the new roadway base.
• Placement of new concrete curb and gutter.
• Preparation to pour new sidewalk.

The crews completed the water valve repair at approximately 7:30 PM. You may resume using your water! We're sorry for the inconvenience.

A water valve tied to the sanitary sewer project failed today, 9/19, and water is currently shut off to multiple apartments and properties. Crews are on it, but we don’t yet know exactly how long it will take — we’re hoping to have water service back by 6 PM. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for hanging in there with us!
