Presidents A & B Neighborhood Roadway Reconstruction

The Presidents A & B Street Reconstruction project is substantially complete. The contractor will address the following remaining items in the summer of 2026 as part of final completion.

• Roadway striping on Washington Avenue.
• Watering of sod will continue for temporarily. Following acceptance of the sod in fall 2026, property owners will be responsible for the new sod.
• Sanitary sewer lining on Tyler Ave and Tyler Ct.
• Remaining landscaping replacement as needed.
• Warranty repairs (2026/2027)

The City of Edina and Valley Paving thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout the 2025 and 2026 construction seasons.

Project Area

• Maloney Ave will be CLOSED to through traffic between Washington Ave and Tyler Ave. This closure is expected to last until 7/24. Please see the attached detour map.

Phase 4:

• Vehicles cannot be parked on the street during construction working hours.
• Paving the final layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, July 21 (weather permitting).

• Remaining landscaping replacement and tree installation is ongoing for the next several weeks.

• Sod watering continues. Residents will receive a letter in the mail when the sod watering period has concluded.

The final layer of asphalt is scheduled to be paved on Tuesday, July 21 starting at 7 AM, weather permitting. You will get a door hanger the day before paving.

Parking Restrictions:

• No parking on the street: Please do not park any vehicles on the street until the roadway has been completely paved. You risk your vehicle being towed.
• Parking alternative: Parking in your garage or driveway is acceptable. Otherwise, park any vehicles you will need on July 14 on

• The entire roadway must remain clear for crews to sweep, prepare, and pave the surface.

Important Notes:

1. Asphalt Bonding Application:
   Before paving, crews will apply a sticky liquid on top of the existing pavement before laying down the final asphalt layer. It’s a thin, black coating that acts like glue, helping the new asphalt stick better to the old surface.
   • Sticky surface: Because it's sticky, if you drive through it before the new asphalt is laid, it can get on your car tires and leave permanent marks on your vehicle and driveway. If you need to get out of your driveway before the asphalt is paved, you may do so, but please go slow so it will not track onto your vehicle. The City will not be responsible for removing this.
   • Prevent driveway access: If you wish to deter others from using your driveway as a turnaround, place your garbage cans at the bottom of your driveway for the day.
2. Contractors/Personal Services:
   Please inform any contractors or personal services (e.g., cleaners, landscapers) about this schedule so they can plan accordingly.

After Paving:

• Rolling and Compaction: Once the new asphalt is placed, large rollers will compact the surface. If you must drive on the freshly paved street, please do so slowly and avoid sharp turns to prevent damage to the new pavement.
• Vehicle Return: Once the paving and rolling are complete, you may return your vehicles to your driveway.

Phase 4:

  • The contractor will be watering for the first 60 days.
  • If there is little rainfall and hot temperatures, supplemental daily watering from property owners is appreciated.
